Decks 2.5.4 — faster Anki imports, with audio and images that just work

Importing a large Anki deck used to crawl, and some cards showed raw ![[sound.mp3]] text instead of playing anything. Decks 2.5.4 makes .apkg import dramatically faster and gets media rendering the way it should.

Media copies in seconds, not minutes

Decks with thousands of images and audio clips now import their media far faster — a deck whose media took minutes to copy finishes in seconds.

Audio and video play in review

Cards imported from Anki now show their images and play their audio (and video) during review. Previously, cards built from Anki's styled templates displayed the raw ![[audio.mp3]] embed text instead of a player — now they render a proper audio/video control, just like images already did.

A heads-up on very large imports

When you import a deck with thousands of media files, Decks now lets you know Obsidian is indexing them in the background — so a brief moment before every image and sound appears is expected, not a glitch.

Upgrade-safe: nothing in your vault changes, and re-importing a deck refreshes its media without creating duplicates.
