Review sessions
Open the DecksMD panel (the brain icon in the ribbon), pick a deck, and start reviewing. DecksMD shows you due cards and new cards according to the deck’s profile limits.
The review loop
Section titled “The review loop”For each card you see the front, then reveal the back and rate how well you knew it:

Review, browse, and cram
Section titled “Review, browse, and cram”DecksMD has three ways to go through a deck:
- Review — a timed session that runs toward a goal: the due cards within the session window plus the new cards available, capped by your daily limits. This is the one that feeds FSRS. Duration is configurable (1–60 minutes).
- Browse — flip through a deck’s cards without affecting scheduling. Useful for previewing or proofreading.
- Cram — a temporary drill over a deck for last-minute practice. Cram doesn’t touch real scheduling, and you can resume an interrupted cram session later.
Pick the mode from a deck’s row menu in the panel.
Card maintenance during review
Section titled “Card maintenance during review”Right from a card you can keep your deck tidy without leaving the session:
- Edit / Delete the card, or Skip it for now.
- Undo (
Cmd/Ctrl+Z) your last rating. - Flag a card to find it later.
- Suspend to pull a card out of scheduling until you unsuspend it; Bury to hide it until tomorrow.
- Reset card to wipe its learning progress and start over.
DecksMD also surfaces health warnings on the card: a leech prompt when a card is repeatedly forgotten (“consider rewriting”), and a dense-card prompt when a card is very long (“consider splitting it”). You can tune both thresholds in settings.
Scratchpad
Section titled “Scratchpad”Each card has a scratchpad — a pen/eraser/text overlay for working through a problem (handy for math or diagrams). It’s a scratch surface for the moment, not saved with the card.
Daily limits
Section titled “Daily limits”Each deck can cap new cards per day and review cards per day through its profile. When you hit a limit, the session ends for that deck until the next day. The day boundary is controlled by the next-day rollover hour (default 4 AM) so a late-night session still counts toward the right day.
Go to source
Section titled “Go to source”From any card in review you can jump to where it’s defined — “Go to source” opens the markdown file (or canvas) and focuses the exact heading or node. Handy when you spot a typo mid-review.
